Material Translations

Biological matter becomes information. Sound becomes drawing. Language becomes code. Images can become objects, archives, signals or physical traces. A book can become a navigational device, a landscape can become a recording system and a body can become a surface for inscription.

These works do not depict transitions between media. They operate through them.

Here, material is not understood as a stable substance, but as something temporarily held within a formcapable of being transferred, translated, encoded and reorganised.
