The Gancedo meteorite is an iron meteorite weighing approximately 30 tons that was discovered in 2016 at Campo del Cielo in the Chaco Province. It is a fragment of an asteroid that reached Earth around 4,000 years ago. The matter it is composed of formed before Earth did, during the early stages of the Solar System around 4.5 billion years ago.
A small piece of handwritten cardboard has been temporarily placed against the meteorite. THE ODYSSEY / 472 KB. This refers to the file size of the digital version of Homer’s Odyssey that was used for the work.

Gancedo ist ein etwa 30 Tonnen schwerer Eisenmeteorit, der 2016 in Campo del Cielo in der Provinz Chaco gefunden wurde. Er ist das Fragment eines Asteroiden, das vor ungefähr 4.000 Jahren die Erde erreichte. Die Materie, aus der er besteht, entstand noch vor der Erde, in der Frühzeit des Sonnensystems, vor etwa 4,5 Milliarden Jahren.
An den Meteoriten wird vorübergehend ein kleines, handbeschriftetes Stück Karton angelehnt: DIE ODYSSEE / 472 KB. 472 KB entspricht der Dateigröße der für die Arbeit verwendeten digitalen Fassung von Homers Odyssee.

Gancedo es un meteorito de hierro de aproximadamente 30 toneladas, hallado en 2016 en Campo del Cielo, en la provincia del Chaco. Es un fragmento de un asteroide que llegó a la Tierra hace aproximadamente 4.000 años. La materia que lo compone se formó antes que la Tierra, en los primeros tiempos del Sistema Solar, hace alrededor de 4.500 millones de años.
Sobre el meteorito se apoya temporalmente un pequeño cartón escrito a mano: LA ODISEA / 472 KB. 472 KB corresponde al peso del archivo digital de La Odisea de Homero
