Without Context, 2026
Installation, four UV prints on white PVC mounted on stretchers.
Without Context presents four measurements under identical visual conditions: 23,5 MB, 37,2 KB, 3 GB, and 173 qubits. The first three designate quantities of classical digital storage while withholding what is being stored. The fourth maintains the same grammatical structure—number plus unit—but breaks the system: a qubit is not a unit of file size and cannot be situated on the same scale as KB, MB, or GB.
Nothing in the installation visually marks this transition. The four elements remain materially equivalent. The rupture occurs within the measurement itself. By removing the contexts that would identify what each quantity refers to, the work examines the point at which a measurement can remain formally precise while becoming insufficient to determine what, exactly, has been measured.
