40 Years of Video Art Germany Part2: Record>Again!

The project «40 Years of Video Art» was created by the Center for Art and Media
(ZKM) in Karlsruhe, in cooperation with the LUDWIG Forum in Aachen, Kunsthaus
in Dresden, and the Edith-Rub-Haus of Media Arts in Oldenburg, with the support
of the National Cultural Foundation.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by Alonia Elizalde König, official in the
Department of Culture of the Goethe Institut, Azra Sijamhodžić from the Secretary
of Cultural Program of the Goethe Institut, Dorcas Müller (ZKM), artist and curator,
who will lead two workshops dedicated to video art and its state in Germany at the
Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts in Trebinje on November 28 and 29, 2013.
Among the materials presented at the Gallery, over 40 video works were chosen,
mostly from the «early period» of video art of the 1970s and 1980s, but
there are also some contemporary works.

Durante a fin de semana do 15, 16 e 17 de novembro, o salón de actos do MARCO presentará a segunda edición do Festival de Videoarte Latino REGION 0. Unha selección de vídeos monocanle, representativa das tendencias actuais no ámbito da creación audiovisual, e que é resultado de múltiples enfoques conceptuais e procesais dos seus creadores, dentro dunha mostra na que teñen cabida diversas formas de expresión dentro da videoarte.

La palabra “vida” tiene numerosos significados. Para comenzar, es una abstracción filosófica que se refiere a nuestra existencia en el mundo. De igual forma, se refiere también a los procesos biológicos, así como al resultado de experimentos técnicos dirigidos por laboratorios húmedos y de aulas de medios. Por lo tanto, la vida como tal no existe, siempre se encuentra mediada por el lenguaje, la cultura, la tecnología y la biología.

Estas múltiples mediaciones de vida constituyen el tema del Festival de Artes Electrónicas y Video Transitio_MX 05 Biomediaciones. El término “biomediaciones” encapsula el dinamismo inherente de la vida que se desarrolla en los niveles ambiental, social y celular. Además captura la naturaleza creativa, dinámica y en constante evolución de los medios. Transitio_MX 05 Biomediaciones explora este proceso entrelazado, conforme al cual la vida siempre es mediada y en el cual los medios por sí mismos son vistos como algo vivo; por ejemplo, compuestos por elementos tecnológicos y biológicos y con la capacidad de generar formas nuevas, conexiones sin precedentes y eventos inesperados.

Centrado en la “vida” entendida de manera filosófica, biológica y tecnológica, Transitio_MX 05 expone una amplia gama de medios que capturan este concepto como la imagen fija y en movimiento, el video y el arte sonoro, la visualización de datos y el arte digital y electronico, la instalación y el performance. Además, integra bioarte, género en el cual los genes, el tejido vivo, la sangre, los virus y las bacterias constituyen el material del artista. Por último, aunque no por ello menos importante, Transitio_MX 05 se compromete de forma crítica con la filosofía de vida, con las nociones complementarias de creación, duración, surgimiento, proceso y flujo. El problema de la mediación de la vida (y, por consiguiente, de la muerte) en la cultura mexicana representa un aspecto particularmente importante de la propuesta del festival.

Sin embargo, Transitio_MX 05 Biomediaciones no es únicamente acerca de la vida, sino que es por sí mismo un evento de medios vivos.
